First off, I think I have found it. An amazing alternative to my beloved YSL Babydoll mascara. This shiny little guy had been in my drawers for a while and I am glad that I decided to try a new mascara a few days ago. It is unbelievable. I have read many reviews on this all claiming to be a great dupe for Benefit’s They’re Real mascara. I personally do not think it is. I really do not get on with the Benefit one at all, this is a completely different kettle of fish! It is just well, AMAZING!
YSL has been my Holy Grail mascara for a long time now. However, it sadly ended up in the bin a few weeks ago, it was all dried up and I was just holding on to that luxe packaging. At £25 a pop, it is expensive. Fantastic, but yes, ridiculously priced.
Bourjois’ Volume 1 Seconde mascara is now becoming a firm favourite. I decided not to replace Babydoll and to use up the mascaras I already have, I am so glad I did. Yes, I am sure I will buy again, maybe from the Duty Free, but this is an amazing alternative.
Obviously the packaging is not like YSL. Let me tell you this was a nightmare to try to get a decent picture. The shiny mirrored finish looks nice enough, however the finish makes it so hard to get a good photo.
The actual mascara is quite wet, perfect though. The brush is plastic, very flexible and it makes it extremely easy to coat all the lashes, even the shortest ones in the corners of you eyes. It does absolutely everything I want from a mascara. It lengthens, separates, gives the blackest of lashes. No clumping, no flaking, no transfer onto the eyelids. It is so good, I have been using on the bottom lashes also. Bourjois claim as the name suggests, that this is a 1 second mascara. It is good enough that it coats all lashes in one sweep, however, it took me about 3 minutes to do both eyes with 2 coats. Still pretty good.
It is easy to remove (I chose non -waterproof), it doesn’t irritate my eyes and provides a real doe-eyed, full lash effect. Even though the lashes look long and full of volume, as they do not clump up, they do not resemble fake lashes. The result is natural, long black lashes.
It is fair to say I think this shiny tube is my new favourite mascara,
It is certainly as good as YSL, if not maybe a little better and at just £9.99 from Boots, you really
cannot go wrong. I did not think I would ever say this!
