Calling Blondes: Does Purple Shampoo Work?

Does Purple Shampoo Work? shampoo, blonde hair, bottle blonde

Purple shampoo does work.  In fact I would go as far as to say it is the ONE product blondes need in their hair-care routine. I was born a red-head, as the years rolled round my hair became much lighter verging on a strawberry-blonde hue.  Now in my thirties, my hair has faded considerably more and is even lighter with different blonde tones. And it’s all natural.

To keep the vibrancy and tones alive, I have started using purple shampoo once a week. No, I am not a bottled blonde, however I have so many different tones to my hair, I have found using a toning shampoo is a complete game-changer. All those different tones, seem lighter and brighter after using a dollop of this.

To use: Apply liberally and massage into the hair. Leave on for around 5 minutes (check the packaging) and then rinse, Easy peasy!  I like to mix with my favourite shampoo, as this seems to be less drying on the hair.

Fancy a go? Then Provoke’s Touch Of Silver is a great, affordable way to restore hair to its former cooler tones.

Purple shampoo gives my hair a new lease of life, almost as though I have spent 3 hours in the hairdressers chair with an attractive array of foils covering my head.

Blonde? Drop a comment below, I’d love to know what you think.

  • I use this everyday along with the conditioner and the toner. I bleached my hair from black to blond and was left with brassy yellow hair. After a few washes I was white! I can’t live without this in my life, I just love it!

  • I’ve never tried a purple shampoo – I’m a natural strawberry blonde, verging more on straight up blonde now – but I’m becoming more and more intrigued by the idea. Might have to buy one and give it a go…

  • I agree it really does work! But an even better product than Provoke is the Bleach London Silver Shampoo – its actually incredible (well all their products are!) You should definitely try it, I think it works 100 times more! <3

    • I’ve been loving their conditioner so will have to pick one up! Thanks for the recommendation x

I use the Bleach London Silver shampoo and it’s great at eliminating brassy tones in bleached blonde hair. However, if using it on hair that has had a toner, for example grey toner that I use, it will strip the toner from your hair… Silver shampoo is also good for other hair colours that have gone a bit warm. Use these to cool your hair colour down 🙂

      • Hey Mark!
Thanks for commenting – I will definitely be picking up this Silver Shampoo, to cool down the warm tones in my hair x 🙂

  • I’ve recently dyed my hair blonde and purple shampoo sounds like something I probably need to get my hands on – I’ll give it a go!

  • I’m not blonde but I’m just here to say that it’s really nice of you sharing it. Hope you accept non-blondes as well hahaha! 🙂
