First Impression: Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere Velvet.
January 10, 2016
If you’re looking for a lightweight, good coverage foundation which evens out the complexion then Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere Velvet foundation is a pretty safe bet.
Incredibly similar to Vitalumiere Aqua, just slightly more matte, it still seems to provide a somewhat radiant finish to my skin. The packaging is sleek, monochrome and ideal for storage and travelling. Classic Chanel.
Non cakey or powdery, this is different to many other traditional foundations on the shelves. It leaves the skin looking natural with a satin finish. And dare I say it, the coverage and lasting power is slightly better than Chanel’s wonderful Vitalumiere Aqua.
With both foundations you need to give the bottle a good shake. Do not be surprised by the watery formula, it’s incredibly thin. In fact after I had applied a layer of foundation it was virtually undetectable and slightly on the sheer side for me. The coverage is however buildable and adding another dollop was just the right amount to leave a beautiful finish, still leaving skin looking very natural.
PLV is beautiful to blend. Initially I used a damp Beauty Blender to apply. However after reading reviews I agree it’s probably better to apply with fingertips, due to the fact the formula is so watery, it seems the sponge just soaks up the product.
I really can’t tell much difference between these two foundations, I recommend if you are slightly on the oily side try Velvet, if like me you have dry skin then Aqua is perfect. I love both of these foundations and would continue to repurchase either. Beautiful formulas and the packaging is just gorgeous. Highly recommended.
