I actually decided to pick up Tarte’s Rainforest of The Sea Water Foundation (Light Neutral) from Sephora This is one new release which intrigues me. It claims, to help prevent sunburn if used as directed with other sun protection methods. Hopefully to reduce the ageing process of the skin caused by the sun and to reduce the risk of skin cancer.
If used on holiday, you are still meant to use a water resistant sunscreen. The actual foundation used correctly and in conjunction with sun cream protection is meant to be really good for the skin. Tarte advise to apply 15 minutes before heading out into the sun.
The packaging is lovely. It comes in a glass bottle with an ombre rainbow coloured lid and dropper applicator.
To apply Rainforest Of The Sea, Tarte direct you to shake the product before use. As the name would suggest, the actual consistency is very watery (even more so than Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua). I have already tried using this product with my trusty Zoeva Flat Top Brush, however as the formulation is so watery it just soaks into the density of the bristles.
The best way to apply this I have found, is using a Beauty Blender. It seemed quite difficult to drop the product out of the pipette and quite messy. I would much have preferred a squeezy bottle like Chanel, it would have been so much easier. On first application I ended up with around 6-7 drops on top of the Beauty Blender.
The coverage is surprisingly good for such a watery base. It covers redness and blemishes with ease and blends so beautifully with minimal effort. It evens out skin tone in the most natural way. non- heavy and non-cakey, this is just what you want for the summer. Skin looks flawless and you can still see my freckles. For sure, you can tell I’m wearing makeup, but skin looks like skin. It’s just a lovely, lovely foundation.
Last summer, when I went away I took MAC’s Prolong Wear Waterproof Foundation, which I loved. This is completely different. Much lighter and much more comfortable to wear on the skin, especially in hotter climates.
This could be my new favourite summer foundation. I will keep you updated on what the wear-time is like.
Have you tried this? What do you think? Do you already have a favourite summer base?
