For the days when I just cannot be bothered, minimal makeup always wins. To leave the house with a completely bare face, I have to be feeling brave.
So, when I fancy an extra 10 minutes in bed (I’m still up by 6.00am most days), I’ll use just 5 products; a base, eyebrow gel, blush/bronzer, mascara and a lip balm.
I’m a firm believer that if your skin looks fresh and glowing, however tired/sick you are feeling, to the outside world you will appear fresh faced and with a healthy glow.
Maybelline’s new Fit Me liquid foundation (matte and poreless) has been the base I have been reaching for more than any other product lately.
Lightweight and creamy, it blends into the skin so easily. Applied with a flat top face brush works well and the product literally just melts into the skin. The coverage is good, almost satin like. Although it’s meant for normal to oily skin, it suits my dry skin a treat.
Maybelline claim it ‘mattifies and refines pores, with blurring micro-powders’. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Skin has a soft finish and even though catered to normal/oily skin (to leave a matte finish), it leaves a natural look to the skin, without being flat.
The matte packaging is a dead ringer for MAC’s Pro Longwear Waterproof Foundation (I actually prefer Fit Me’s formula, as it’s not as heavy). Lightweight, slim and easy to pack in your bag.
Longevity wise, it wears pretty well. By lunchtime the nose area needed a little powder for a quick retouch, otherwise the cheeks and rest of the face remain fresh and healthy looking.
When Maybelline released their Fit Me Stick Foundation, I really wasn’t a fan, however this is one cracking base product which could rival much more expensive brands.
Have you tried Maybelline’s Fit Me? What do you think? Which base product is your favourite for the summer months?
