When it comes to skincare I used to think I was fairly picky. It seems these days I will try anything once and if my skin loves it, I will somehow incorporate the product into my everyday routine. I still don’t have a set routine as such, as I try new products daily. However now and then products impress me and I find myself reaching for them regularly. These few products mentioned today are the ones I have been loving lately.
Cleanser wise Garnier’s Micellar Oil Infused Cleansing Water is still top of the tree. A nourishing and gentle oil which removes everything with the greatest of ease to leave skin feeling and looking hydrated and somewhat glowing. You can read the full review right here.
To tone the skin, I much prefer a spritz/mist to refresh the complexion than sweeping a toner over the face with a cotton pad. Akar’s Lush Balance Toning Mist smells heavenly and has a hint of Omorovicza’s Queen of Hungary Mist about it. After cleansing it provides a welcome treat to the skin.
The light mist evenly coats the face to leave skin feeling supple and revitalised. 100% natural, packed with rose and neroli this is suitable for the most irritated of skin types.
To get my hydration on I have been switching between Nip and Fab’s Bee Sting Fix Cream* and Clinique’s Pep Start Hydrorush SPF 20. Both seem to hydrate beautifully to leave skin feeling ultra soft, plump and smooth. Nip and Fab sinks in beautifully to give a much needed surge of moisture. Clinique’s Pep Start is oil free, packed with SPF and provides the most lovely base for the days when I wish to wear foundation.
For a little extra nourishment, come bedtime and when my skin feels particularly parched Sunday Riley’s Luna and Guerlain’s Midnight Secret are the perfect duo. They work harmoniously together to provide skin with that much needed hydration boost. I often apply Guerlain’s lovely serum, let it sink in and then pat a few drops of the blue liquid Luna into any dry spots. By morning the texture of my skin improves considerably. Midnight Secret is designed to pep the skin up after a short amount of sleep, so when I next fly this is definitely coming with me in my hand luggage.
For the eyes I have to be careful with what I use, as nearly everything to go near them irritates terribly. Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream (packed with 100% pure avocado oil) is one product I have found which seems to work a treat. It’s gentle enough not to irritate as long as I use a minimal amount. This magic cream seems to smooth out any fine lines to leave the under eye area looking brighter and more hydrated.
I use a face mask at least 2 or 3 times a week and at the moment am loving clay masks above everything else. The two favourites at the moment include L’Oreal’s Pure Clay Detox Mask. This is usually on offer for around £5 and personally I believe this is as good as Glamglow. Another mask which gets similar results, is Nip and Fab’s Kale Fix Clay Mask*. Slightly more tingly on the skin, the Nip and Fab version leaves skin clear and really soft. Both really do draw out impurities from the skin and give you a spa like treat which is always welcome.
To help to prevent blemishes or to shrink any angry visitors Guerlain’s Stop Spot has been floating my boat recently. Just a tiny amount of this cream seems to shrivel up any unwelcome friends. It conceals, reduces irritation and calms skin down. It’s the perfect miniature to keep in your bag.
Not forgetting the lips, Caudalie’s Lip Conditioner is an absolute bargain. Formulated with 99% naturally derived ingredients, this is ultra gentle on the lips. A quick swipe of this helps to re-hydrate lips in no time at all. It has a delicate vanilla scent, is nourishing and leaves a lovely base to apply lipstick.
So there you have it, the products which have been working a treat recently. What products are in your routine at the moment? Is there something I just have to try?
