I’m a foundation junkie. I am really not afraid to admit it. To me a smart pair of jeans, chunky knit and a flawless fresh face is life. Yes, I really am that sad.
It will come to you as no surprise when I say that I try many foundations and most new ones which fill the aisles of the beauty stores everywhere.
It seems hard these days to find a base which lasts from 8am-6pm, looks dewy but not shiny, fresh but not matte, which offers full coverage but still allows natural beauty and those freckles to poke through.
I used to be a massive fan of Estee Lauder’s Doublewear. The coverage and longevity is quite frankly excellent. I still rate this as one of the best foundations I have ever tried. However these days I favour a much lighter base so am always on the hunt for something which lasts on the skin, but which feels lighter to wear.
Non-offensive, but strong all the same. The actual product is creamy in texture. All Hours blends beautifully into the skin. One pump will cover your whole face with ease. Two pumps will give ultra full coverage. I’m talking completely flawless. The foundation is so easy to buff into the skin to leave an even slightly satin finish. By the way the pump is included (unlike Doublewear yay)!
I’m not so confident as to say this would outlast Doublewear, however it’s pretty darn good and offers a lovely base for the majority of the working hours.
Off out for a night of hobbling around town on your heels straight from work, you would certainly need to touch up. However this base is easy to make good again, the product does not cake up on the skin, nor settle in fine lines and any mistakes can be easily fixed.
And just look at that luxe packaging. I don’t get that excited about packaging these days but this is beautiful and has the unmistaken class of YSL’s branding.
It takes alot to impress me with a new foundation, I mean I do literally want everything. Good coverage but not too much though, with great lasting power, still allowing skin to glow. And, ok yes I must admit this heavy glass bottle is ultra sophisticated (for foundation) and more than a little swoon worthy.
I have read many reviews that this wasn’t suited to dry skin. Well personally my dry skin is soooo very dry. And as long as I have applied a cracking moisturiser or oil (currently loving Elemis’ Superfood Facial Oil – more on this soon) then this base sits very well and lasts well on my skin. Packed with SPF20 and oil free, All Hours somehow seems to give my skin a much needed hydration boost.
All Hours doesn’t get the Jeffrey Starr approval (I don’t even know if he has even mentioned this product on his channel – just trying and failing – to be witty), but it certainly is awarded a massive 5 stars from BBB. All Hours is an absolute cracker!
One to certainly try this year. YSL, I am in love with your foundation. And yes, I would use this All Hours of the day, it’s fantastic!

These pictures have not been edited and this foundation truly looks like I have applied a filter to my photos.
