The lip products you need to get your hands on this Summer.
The last lip product I bought was a super swanky Giorgio Armani Ecstasy Shine. I don’t know why I picked the colour I did, it was completely the wrong shade for me. A cherry red, which was very pretty, but completely unsuitable and not something I would reach for very often. I border mainly on the nude/pink glossy lips kind of look which suits me and the fresh, minimal makeup I wear most days.
With that in mind, I decided today I wanted to share with you my top picks for pretty, natural, glossy lips. I have never taken to the matte look and find that glossy, shiny lips have always been the most flattering, especially as the gloss does not settle into the fine lines.
I’m going to be methodical and start from left to right, which gives me great delight to start with one of my absolute favourite products. Not just for the lips, but of all time.
Dior Lip Glow
Dior’s Lip Glow is a beautiful pink shade which offers subtle colour pay off. The balmy consistency plumps up lips to make them look juicy and the tone adjusts to your own lip shade to make them look the very best version of themselves, while providing much needed hydration.
I know Dior have now released different shades, which I have yet to try. The original is just brilliant and as my Sister-In-Law called it, when I use this, my lips look ‘Chumpy’ (a cross between chunky and plump). I have full lips anyway, however this is praise indeed and a testament to just how great Lip Glow really is!
YSL Gloss Volupte & YSL Tint-In-Oil
Next off is YSL’s Gloss Volupte (202). A watermelon scented fresh, pretty gloss. Which again makes lips look plump and gives a beautiful sheen to the lips. Natural and very pretty.
The silver tube shown above (5th along) is also another Saint Laurent product – this is a Tint-In-Oil which is very similar to Gloss Volupte. I’m sorry, I have no idea on the shade however it is very similar to 202.
Sticking with YSL, we move to lipsticks. Of course you cannot forget to mention the beautiful packaging which is weighty and luxurious and so very photogenic. These must be one of my all-time favourite packaged products, just beautiful. You get the shade wrong, well at least you have something pretty to look at!
YSL Rouge Volupte
I have been using Rouge Volupte Shine (44 – gold packaging) and Volupte Tint In Balm (03 – silver packaging) on rotation on warmer days. Both are fairly sheer in consistency, number 44 gives a cliche ‘your lips but better’ look and 03 is an ultra sheer wash of natural flushed pink. Both nourish and hydrate the lips to leave lips looking healthy and natural.
Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil
Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil is another product I have bought numerous times. I tried the honey version first which I absolutely love, so when I came to the end of another tube I snapped up the mint version. Lips are nourished and the chunky doe-foot applicator makes it extremely easy to coat every inch of your lips. The blue tinge to the product makes teeth look whiter and when you smile you literally sparkle.
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb
Last and of course no means least is Fenty Beauty’s lip plumping gloss. As far as I am aware this has no magic plumping ingredients, however the neutral tone and the glossy finish this gives to the lips is beautiful. The shade is universal and catered to all. The scent Haribo Starmix! Using Gloss Bomb makes your lips look the very best version of themselves. Plump, juicy and larger!
